LOCAL 2750 BYLAWS COMMITTEE MESSAGE

LOCAL 2750 BYLAWS COMMITTEE MESSAGE

August 4, 2020

Fellow Crewmembers,

In light of the recent vote of the Local 2750 bylaws failing to be ratified, Union Leadership has created a Bylaws Committee. This Committee is composed of regular line pilots who were critical of the proposed bylaws during the original comment period. The goal of this Committee is to solicit input from the general membership and modify the proposed bylaws to ensure that the desires of our crewmembers are reflected to the greatest extent possible. The Bylaws Committee will be independent of the ExCo and will directly consult the legal department of the IBT in Washington D.C. to ensure that we have a clear understanding of what is, and what is not, achievable under Federal Labor laws as well as the Constitution of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

The high level of participation we have seen on what might ordinarily seem to be a dull or uninteresting process is an encouraging sign that the membership want their voices heard. However, in order to achieve what the membership will demand in these bylaws, we need your continued support and participation. The Bylaws Committee will soon be issuing a brief survey to collect information from the membership about what is most important to them. This survey will be critically important, as it will provide us the data to present to the IBT to show them exactly what our crewmembers demand to be included in the revised bylaws.

We pledge to keep this process as transparent as possible. This transparency will consist of progress reports, a projected timeline, and accessibility.  We believe this will hold us accountable and also gives crewmembers every opportunity to direct our path forward. We plan on using the Local 2750 website as the primary conduit for communicating with you. Additionally, we will use emails, the Union message board, and crew webinars to bolster communication efforts.

We invite any member of Local 2750 to contact us at any time to share your thoughts, ideas, or concerns by emailing us at bylaws@iap2750.org or to call us directly.

Fraternally,
